A last goodbye to our Israeli friends

    Dear Beitar-fans,

As the referee blew the final whistle in "Teddy", it all became clear: FC Copenhagen is still a participant in the UEFA club competitions of the season 2007/2008.

Beitar Jerusalem and their fans, however, will have to wait for next season to pursue their European football dreams and bring the happy message of YouTube-videos and stories of the dreaded Teddy Stadium to fans of other clubs.

Had this tournament been a matter of supplying the forum of the forthcoming opponent with YouTube-links of videos showing fanatic fans singing really loud and having fun with fireworks, you would have already qualified before the first of the two legs were even played. You did a really good job at that! Please keep those YouTube-bookmarks handy for the fans of your next opponent in the UEFA competitions!

Also, it's a shame you weren't awarded any complimentary points for telling us in such detail about your home ground, "Teddy". In the event that your devoted confidence in the atmosphere of your stadium would have had anything to do with reality, surely Beitar also would have qualified without anyone having to kick a ball in the first place!

It does seem now, regretfully, that in the end it matters little with YouTube-videos and mistaken megalomania about the significance of having a partizan crowd at home.

While I certainly shall not forget to express my appreciation of having enjoyed for several weeks the delightful company of such an intelligible group of foreign fans here at our forum, I must also admit that it did provide a slight sensation of sheer pleasure to see Beitar eventually shafted so thoroughly by that very special combination of utter skill, style, and experience - the incarnation of which is known by locals as "Marcus Allbäck".

Good luck in your future football endeavours!

›This is a fitting respons from Beitar-Jerusalem to /Simons post:

Somehow I think /Simon's wonderfully acerbic post was directed squarely at those morons who flamed this place non stop for weeks, rather than this gentle soul.

And by God, they had it coming ;-)

Thustly adding to the stupidity, by flaming...

I am very much hoping that this post is staying (3rd time's a charm, and this time in english), so Beitar-fans can see that /Simon is not talking for all of us, but merely throwing the ball back in your court with this childish flaming.

Come on mate, this is football!
    Not cricket, or waterpollo...

Should we all just hold hands, and sing M.J songs?

I got full respect for Beitar. Haven't been so scared in a LONG time.
But still, let's have our fun.

I think, with all due respect, that most of this forum's users are well aware of the difference between inane clogging up of the chat with tedious YouTube links of the Beitar fans being ever so intense, and a well thought out, well composed and witty if harsh riposte like this one.

In any case, if I were a Copenhagen fan visiting a Beitar forum or any other, I certainly wouldn't feel any right to be offended if I came across a retort like this, if most of my co-fans had behaved as boorishly as the larger part of Beitar's fans have.

Truth be told, after nearly a month of hearing nonsense about Beitar, Teddy and Hell, this was a breath of fresh air. This is our forum, anyway, and it's not like Beitar's fans haven't been able to hold their own, either.

Those harping on about bad winners and flaming might want to try this thread on for size - I don't see too many complaints about that.

You are a very arrogant person, we lost to your "mighty" FC but not one of our fan would trade our players with yours(maybe the Canadian dude), and that is saying something, good luck in the next round as we did like FCK we thought they didn't play dirty, unattractive but fair.

BTW, for us Teddy is a "temple" and we are very proud of it, try to respect that.

...containing this: "the significance of having a partizan crowd at home.", which quite simply doesn't make sense (not unless, that is, you know of the bröndby fan crowd who call themselves... "partizan crowd" - in which case it only makes sense as an effort at making fun of them. not that that helps much in this context...).

now, one might bear with that if the post were meant well, but it isn't of course. it's rather childishly vengeful. not what i would have expected from its author.

Of course it is. Deservedly so.

Blasphemous as well, it seems! The temple has been desecrated!!

Even if it were, it would still make sense, just too much of it. And seeing as how partisan crowd isn't just a home crowd but a particularly devoted one, calling the Beitar crowd a partisan one is not a pleonastic phrase as you wouldn't say the same about, let's say, FC Nordsjælland supporters.

Rather, the initial reference to a "partizan crowd" bears all the markings of a great pop culture reference. If you don't get it, the sentence still makes sense, and if you do get it, it makes it that much funnier.

basically, "partisan crowd" means "supporters being present". they support your party. so, any team with supporters does, per definition, have a partisan crowd. this holds true even if you wish to use the term in the sense of "partisan crowd" being a particularly devoted part of the supporters. now, if those were not present in the home ground, it would be quite strange. imaginable, perhaps, but rather unthinkable. thus "bordering on pleonasm".

of course, some partisan crowds are louder and more loyal than others.

›Rather, the initial reference to a "partizan crowd"

googling "partiZan crowd" doesn't get you that many pop culture related links, nor does it give you many specific football links. the bröndby fans' misapprehension is one of them.

knowing /simon's style, wit and intelligence, i'll guess he must have been rather drunk when writing the post in question. i understand his wish to deride the imbeciles flooding this site with youtube videos of fervent supporters etc., but please, do your flaying with some style, if at all. "if at all" meaning, that one might just have let the result of the match speak for itself.
