Re: A last goodbye to our Israeli friends

    ››Dear Beitar-fans,
    ››
››As the referee blew the final whistle in "Teddy", it
››all became clear: FC Copenhagen is still a participant in the
››UEFA club competitions of the season 2007/2008.
    ››
››Beitar Jerusalem and their fans, however, will have to wait for
››next season to pursue their European football dreams and bring
››the happy message of YouTube-videos and stories of the dreaded
››Teddy Stadium to fans of other clubs.
    ››
››Had this tournament been a matter of supplying the forum of the
››forthcoming opponent with YouTube-links of videos showing fanatic
››fans singing really loud and having fun with fireworks, you would
››have already qualified before the first of the two legs were even
››played. You did a really good job at that! Please keep those
››YouTube-bookmarks handy for the fans of your next opponent in the
    ››UEFA competitions!
    ››
››Also, it's a shame you weren't awarded any complimentary points
››for telling us in such detail about your home ground,
››"Teddy". In the event that your devoted confidence in
››the atmosphere of your stadium would have had anything to do with
››reality, surely Beitar also would have qualified without anyone
››having to kick a ball in the first place!
    ››
››It does seem now, regretfully, that in the end it matters little
››with YouTube-videos and mistaken megalomania about the
››significance of having a partizan crowd at home.
    ››
››While I certainly shall not forget to express my appreciation of
››having enjoyed for several weeks the delightful company of such
››an intelligible group of foreign fans here at our forum, I must
››also admit that it did provide a slight sensation of sheer
››pleasure to see Beitar eventually shafted so thoroughly by that
››very special combination of utter skill, style, and experience -
››the incarnation of which is known by locals as "Marcus
    ››Allbäck".
    ››
››Good luck in your future football endeavours!
    ››
    ››/Simon

›You are a very arrogant person, we lost to your
›"mighty" FC but not one of our fan would trade our
›players with yours(maybe the Canadian dude), and that is saying
›something, good luck in the next round as we did like FCK we
›thought they didn't play dirty, unattractive but fair.

›BTW, for us Teddy is a "temple" and we are very proud
›of it, try to respect that.

How did we play dirty and unfair??
Yes, yes we got it, Teddy is a temple, we've been listening to this for weeks - almost a month. And when we finally get to play there it wasn't scary at all. So it's quite obvious that some people will comment on this seeing we've been listening to all the talk about crazy Teddy for so long.

Oh my god you complain about the tone in other peoples posts and then you write this shite?
Shaken like chickens? I would have thought that if our players were shaken like chickens ( I didn't even know chickens shook ) they wouldn't have been able to get out of the match as the winners.
F(u)ck Copenhagen... Wow, that's classy. And very original by the way.

Now have a nice life. Maybe you'll get in the Uefa-cup once your russian mobster has bought the rest of Israels players.

Re: A last goodbye to our Israeli friends

    ›basically, "partisan crowd" means "supporters
›being present". they support your party. so, any team
›with supporters does, per definition, have a partisan crowd.

Yes. Or... a partisan is, by definition, "an ardent and enthusiastic supporter of some person or activity", so a "partisan crowd" is a crowd full of supporters like that. Shouting, singing, you know, the "mood stand". A non-partisan home crowd would be us latte-drinkers, sitting back and uttering the occasional "Good show!".

Now, here's the thing that's gonna blow your mind. Both are right. I know. But only one is right in the context of what was written and it's not that hard to see which one.

››Rather, the initial reference to a "partizan crowd"
››bears all the markings of a great pop culture reference. If you
››don't get it, the sentence still makes sense, and if you do get
››it, it makes it that much funnier.

›googling "partiZan crowd" doesn't get you that many pop
    ›culture related links,

    What? Why would it?

›nor does it give you many specific
›football links. the bröndby fans' misapprehension is one of them.

Well, yes. Because that's what's being referenced.

›knowing /simon's style, wit and intelligence, i'll guess he must
›have been rather drunk when writing the post in question.

    And ugly...

So what you are saying is that despite the two games proved that Beitar and FC Copenhagen are equally matched at this particular moment (where FC Copenhagen is struggling to redefine its midfield and their game being mediocre all through this early season), FC Copenhagen is in fact a poor team while Beitar is in reality exactly as aweinspiring as the pre-match descriptions on Sidelinien claimed them to be? That doesn't seem to make any sense.

For my part I do congratulate you with instilling most of the users of Sidelinien with a good portion of terror about this unknown Israeli club and its equally unknown but apparently mythological homeground. I can only say that the pretty but totally undangerous performance of Beitar in Copenhagen bursted my fear that we faced a better team than us, and from what TV showed of the match in Jerusalem, Teddy stadium was not more dangerous, magical, temple-like hellish or whatever else has been said, than numerous other stadiums around the world.

On that note I claim that the descriptions of the stadium were if not wrong then hugely exaggerated, and that if anyone influenced others, then the total control of the game FC Copenhagen had for the first 60 minutes turned the home-crowd into a rather anonymous bunch. Of course that ended when Beitar finally decided to play more agressively, but it seems to me that it was rather the attacking qualities of Beitar than the pressure from the stands that shook FC Copenhagen for the last 30 minutes of the game. (According to the descriptions from the FC Copenhagen players, they did not feel shaken at all, but I do beg to differ on that account.)

That being said, I do think that Benfica will mark the end of FC Københavns CL-campaign, just as I think Beitar would be almost without chances against that particular club.

    kind regards, db.

Beitar22, if all Beitar fans where like you, our respect for your team and your fellowfans would be even lower, then any other team besides Broendby!

But thank godness, there have been other Beitar fans besides you! You have sounded like a 12 your old boy, who just got owned in computergame!
And not just in 1 or 2 posts! It´s been in every single post you have written here! Stop whinning and take it like a man! Football is a game, where all teams loose at some point.

Yes you had 2 goals cancelled for offside! And yes you had your best player sent of in the first match! But no one besides you, complains about it! Take a hint!

To all you other Beitar fans out there, you have a great team, and it could easily have gone both ways, we wish you the best of luck in the future (Matches vs FC Copenhagen are of course not included :P )

That's what you think every time, isn't it? But hey, no offend! We all got our selfmade myths!

I agree with you that FC Copenhagen played pretty poorly, but as Simon points out, Champions League and qulifying is not just about nice play on the very day. It's just as much a question of being cynical and experienced. And you all came into this very game as naive, yelling boyscouts having their first trip to town.

Of course we will be beaten by Benfica - just like they would've beaten Beitar Jerusalem. Untill then, please allow us having a good laugh.

    Cheers

Wouldn't you like to at least trade goalkeepers?

More seriously: the same could be said the other way around. There would only be one or two players from Beitar that would decively strengthen FC Copenhagen - I think. Boateng surely being one of them.

›BTW, for us Teddy is a "temple" and we are very proud

I think most of us can respect your feelings about the stadium. But that doesn't mean that only positive statements are allowed. In fact /Simon doesn't say anything bad about the stadium, just that it isn't as terrifying as most Beitar-fans seem to think. But I do understand if that got lost in the flood of petty statements that marred his remarks.

That being said, I would think that is is obvious that when dozens of your co-fans are going on without end about how terrifying Teddy Stadium is, you must expect to get some snappy remarks when the match revealed the reality to be somewhat different. It was a difficult venue, but no more than what you would expect of such a game.

He says that we didn´t play dirty and unattractive, but played fair - and not the other way around. At least that is how it seems to me:)

Bye bye Beitar, you was truely unlucky, god was against you, sun was in your eyes, the wind blowing against you, the judge was unfair to you, CAUSE truly u played amazing football. If all would had been fair you would had won the entire CL already the way you was playing!. OMG hope we will never meet such an amazing team as "yours" again.. Cant wait to see the MVP choice of CL, if it aint a Beitar player then OMG! cant even picture it not beeing. you have the best players in the world!

If anything, the way the Beitar fans talked about their home stadium before the game, just goes to show how little european football they've played in the past years, (and therefore their lack of knowledge about the atmosphere in other stadiums in international matches)
