1747: GOAL. Czech Republic 1-0 Scotland. Beautiful finish from Libor Sionko. Scotland's staunch resistance is broken at last. Great play from the Rangers flop who is apparently FC Copenhagen's 'Player of the Year.'
1817: GOAL. Czech Republic 3-1 Scotland. Another terrific goal from Libor Sionko. To borrow some Wimbledon parlance - that's game, set and match to the Czechs. Scotland were pushing forward for an equaliser and left themselves wide open to a clinical sucker-punch goal.
1818: Sionko only scored three times during his ill-fated stint at Ibrox under the equally doomed Paul LeGuen. He's grabbed two corkers tonight. What gives?
- Daily TelegraphAuld acquaintance was renewed somewhat painfully for George Burley's makeshift Scotland side when Libor Sionko - as fate would have it, a former Rangers player who never quite made the grade at Ibrox - despatched them with two excellent strikes, supplemented by an equally impressive effort from Czech substitute, Michal Kadlec, in this friendly in Prague.
- Daily Record, GlasgowEIGHTEEN months ago Libor Sionko couldn't get a game for the worst Rangers side in living memory. Last night this one-time Ibrox misfit made Scotland pay for the insult.
Sionko ran the show as the Czech Republic warmed up for Euro 2008 with a comfortable win over a patchwork and jaded Scotland side in Prague. He also scored the first and final goals of a match played at a slow pace in stamina-sapping evening sunshine until all hell broke loose in the last half-hour.
Sionko made it 1-0 on the hour and buried George Burley's boys seconds before the end when he thumped home the third goal for a Czech side that oozed class even though it was their second string.
---
This was a lacklustre and sloppy Scotland and Sionko, who was full of energy and drive, appeared to be relishing this chance to shine.
The former Rangers flop tore past Naysmith in 19 minutes and floated a superb cross into the danger area but Koller got it wrong in the air and sent his header too high.
---
Christian Dailly had only just replaced McManus and was caught flat-footed as Sionko bustled on to a cute pass from Zndenek Pospech.
The winger controlled the ball on his chest as he flashed past Dailly and coolly slotted it past Gordon.
It was no more than Sionko deserved because his trickery and tenacity had been the difference between the sides.
---
But Sionko struck again in the final minute, turning Dailly inside out before lashing a thumping drive past Gordon to round of a superb individual display.
Now, at long last, Scotland's players can put their feet up and watch Sionko and his Czech mates take on all-comers on the telly.
Jojo! Det bliver interessant at følge.
