Regarding the live stream from Solidsport Breidablik-FCK

Hi guys,
We thought it's a good idea to provide some background information about our broadcast tonight as there is some misunderstanding going around.
In UEFA's preliminary rounds in CL, EL, and Conference League, the home teams own the broadcast rights until the group stage. So, all clubs sell the rights to the highest bidders, often to the away team's broadcasters or media houses. It's a very important source of income for smaller teams and an opportunity to actually not lose money in the UEFA rounds. (Not everybody reaches the group stage).
In this case, Breidablik tried to sell the game to Danish broadcasters, but none of them wanted to pay anything close to what the game is worth. The only option left for them was to either sell the game for almost nothing or not broadcast the game at all outside Iceland or to broadcast the game themselves through livestreaming.
They chose to livestream the game, and they chose Solidsport as the platform to broadcast from. So, Solidsport didn't buy any rights; we are just a platform the club uses in this case to broadcast the game to you. Breidablik has put in a lot of effort to make the production nice and even brought in English commentary to make the match more enjoyable for Danish fans. Therefore, it was a bit of a shock that we at Solidsport have received so much criticism, and we are sorry for all the misunderstandings flying around.
We have also understood that many FCK fans don't want to watch the broadcast, and therefore, we are dialing down on the bandwidth, so we will only have 3000 PPV tickets available.

Perhaps the game isn’t as valuable as initially thought if you don’t anticipate selling more than 3000 pay-per-view tickets.

By the way, you might want to reassess your pricing. For 15 euros, one can secure a spot in the stadium for the second leg in Copenhagen.

Thanks for clearing things up, I think the issue was it was communicated as you'd bought the broadcasting rights. But I understand now that the club is going the route by streaming themselves and using your platform for that!

Det er en fri verden, men mon ikke vi alle kunne se den på vores allerede betalte kanaler, hvis ikke Solidsport havde oversolgt sin “gode ide”, så nu får Breidablik færre penge og færre fans får adgang til kampen.

Nu skyder Solidsport imod normale udbydere, som ikke vil betale prisen (hvilket jo er latterligt, da Solidsport hellere ikke vil betale prisen, men lokker Breidablik til at gamble på at de får større indtjening på denne måde og så sikre de sig selv en del uden økonomisk risiko hvis det bliver en fiasko).

Pt så er maks omsætningen 45.000 euro. Dertil skal fratrækkes udgifter og penge til Solidsport. Jeg tror egentlig godt at DR, TV2, Discovery, Viasat kunne være med på det beløb

Meget enig - underlig halvkonspiratorisk stemning omkring løsningen. Har optur over man kan se den, og jeg glæder mig. God kamp til alle uanset hvordan man vælger at følge den.

For mig går irritationen mest af alt på, at:

1) Vi betaler i forvejen vanvittigt meget for diverse tv-pakker, som kampene er spredt ud imellem. Derfor havde det været fedt med en løsning, hvor en af de sædvanlige udbydere havde købt pakken.

2) 15 euro for éen kamp er en heftig pris. Der er pladser i Parken til returen til nogenlunde samme beløb. Men det kunne have været værre med diverse vanvidsbeløb for boksekampe in mente.

3) I det hele taget er pay-per-view en ret så oldschool (og med rette upopulær) måde at sælge rettigheder på. Det fornemmer man også her, hvor Solidsport kun har sikret plads til et meget lavt antal seere.
